Hand Peeled Pink Shrimp

This specialty product is available at fresh seafood counters.  As indicated this shrimp is cooked and hand peeled revealing a bright pink color and firm sweet tasting meat.  Hand Peeled Pink Shrimp is ready to eat and is great just as is in salads, on avocado or in a cocktail.

Machine Peeled Pink Shrimp

Machine peeled shrimp is less labour intensive and, therefore, may be a choice for cost conscious consumers.  Because of the additional water used in processing, when compared size-by-side with hand peeled shrimp, it appears less colourful and may be a little less firm but is still great in any recipe.  Available fresh, frozen.

Sidestripe Shrimp

Sidestripe shrimp are a well know BC product often exported to Japan for the Ama Ebi market (translates as “sweet prawn”.  British Columbians and Canadian are beginning to discover this special treat.  Sidestripes, which average 16-22 count per lb., are available usually FAS (frozen at sea) in tubs as tails or whole in boxes.  Check your favorite seafood market for this specialty product.  Great Barbequed!
